Liu Hong sets new 50km world record 
at Chinese Race Walk Grand Prix

China's star race walker Liu Hong set a new world record for the women's 50km race walk, becoming the first woman to break the 4-hour barrier.

The Olympic gold medalist completed on March 9, 2019 the Chinese Race Walk Grand Prix in the eastern city of Huangshan in just 3 h 59' 15". The Chinese 31-year-old beat with this the previous record of 4:04:36 set in 2018 by compatriot Liang Rui in Taicang. 
The second of the race, Li Maocuo, also beat the previous record, finishing in 4 h 03' 51".  

Liu Hong also holds the women's 20km world record of 1 h 24' 38" set in La Coruna, Spain in 2015.
